“Working with Lauryn helped me see that recovery is about more than just “stopping” a behavior or bad habit. With her guidance, I learned how important it is to nourish my body with foods that will strengthen and heal it, and how big of an impact sound nutrition makes on how I feel physically AND mentally. She also helped me learn how to focus on being intentional and set goals with action steps—and constantly provided accountability, encouragement and coaching to help me follow through.  Working with her was not only a refreshing experience from past treatment, but also gave me skills to use for the rest of my life to better my body, mind, and soul!”

“I spent my twenties eating from the shelves of gas stations and Walgreen’s. I consumed enough preservatives to rival any funeral home. Enough sweets to make Willy Wonka’s factory look like a single sugar packet.

That past year I had started eating a bit healthier–subbing my Sour Patch kids for chocolate chip granola bars, choosing juice instead of soda. But it wasn’t enough. At all. And watching Lauryn live through my giant cold war without so much as a sniffle made me realize that she might be on to something, with her kale and lean meat and baked potatoes.

So I did something petrifying. With Lauryn by my side, I wheeled a grocery cart to the vegetable aisle of an actual grocery store. And together, we picked out a big leafy head of kale.

A few weeks later, after I’d moved out of Lauryn’s, I found myself again in the vegetable aisle, picking out red tomatoes on a vine.

I also cane to the realization that if I didn’t maul a pastry every day, life would continue to exist as I knew it.

And so it did.

Today, I frequent the grocery store, well, frequently. After all, you have to go more often when you’re buying green things that have a shelf life of a week, as opposed to Chops Ahoy!, which could quite possibly survive a “Planet of the Apes” attack. I’ve cut out the majority of the sugar from my diet, and my skin looks better than it has in years–someone asked the other day if I was 23. I’ll be 30 in four months. My menstrual cycle, which has always been horrifically heavy, has calmed to a manageable flow. And my emotions, more up and down than a kid on a sea-saw in the ocean, have leveled out to an even keel note–quite a relief after all those waves.

I will always be so grateful to Lauryn for showing me that a healthy lifestyle of food isn’t about being skinny–the only pitch the media throws your way, to which I always said, “Whatever. I work out.”–but rather a healthy lifestyle of food is something to have to help you live the life you want to live. A life you can thrive in. ”

“Dr. Lauryn has helped me realize if I am not able to give my body the physical sustenance it needs then I, naturally, I won’t be able to really focus on the other elements in my life, like social interactions or trips I want to take. I am beginning to realize that life was meant for so much more than worrying about food and activity…Since working with Lauryn, I no longer want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy. I want to be stronger. I want to be able to live my life outside the gym as well—it is meant to make me healthier and stronger in order to do that.”

“I’ve been training with Lauryn in a small group setting for the past few years now. She makes our workouts fun, engaging and meaningful. Lauryn constantly pushes us to do our best. She challenges us with new workouts every week, each with a new and definitive focus. Her passion for health and wellness is contagious; she consistently follows up with the group, checking in to see how we are doing, how our current workout schedule is going, if we need any additional nutritional advice or simply an outlet to vent. Lauryn is truly a great coach, mentor and friend.”
